Eric, Nick, and I would just like to thank you all who participated and signed up to follow our blog. We feel that your contributions really helped stimulate discussion on many of the topics we posted. This project was really a learning experience for all who were involved, not just us. But the fun does not need to end here. For those of you who are still interested, we will continue to add posts to keep this discussion flowing. Instead of posting direct questions that require some sort of knowledge or research, we have decided to instead post questions that make the blog less formal and more casual. India's banking system

the Indian banking system, and mostly the key government affiliated bank, The Royal Bank of India, has a been quite positive about the future prospects of India. In the October 27th announcement, the governor Dr. D. Subbarao, who acts much like Ben Bernanke in the US, sees GDP growth growing at 6 percent which is down a bit from previous estimates. This rate kicks the US hopeful rate, 1 percent, in the head. So even with the worst drought in 35 years in India, how has the economy responded differently to the global turn down then countries such as the US?

Shifting Cultural Traits

It can be said that technology can change the culture of a country. As something new is invented or introduced, it slowly assimilates and changes the culture for better or for worse. An example is how the introduction of the television in America put people inside their homes instead of on their front porches where they before would converse with neighbors. This has made Americans a less social and heavier people. How has an increase in technology and westernized customes affected Indian culture in the past half-century? How has India protected their identity?

The Leaders of India

In almost every country there is always a person who takes the initiative to make the country a better place to live. Who was and is the major players of India. This list may include political figures, religious figures, or captains of industry.

Cardwell's Law

Cardwell's law suggests that an technologically advanced, creative society cannot sustain this action for long. I would venture to say that one of the reasons that the Indian nation is on the forefront of this creativity swing. With over 1 billion people there is plenty of reason to think that the creativity upswing could be great. But as Joel Mokyr puts it, the technological creativity is mearly the engine for development. Other things, such as capital accumulation, skills, motivation, and a well functioning market are all important to make this creative development possible. Maybe the reason India has exploded in such a way is that it started to get the other important elements. The population could have had all of these creative ideas, but an engine without a car base goes no where. Only after the declaration of Indian freedom did the GDP of the nation increase ten fold. The previous 50 years, GDP only grew by 20 Million. This staggering difference, i propose, is the direct effect of the new capital accumulation, skills and a functioning market system. So does this technological advancement of India have a limited number of days? Or does this law no longer effect nations in this way?

The Technology of India

How has India developed technolicaly in the past half century and how has this technology helped India solve its poverty problem. Has India been a leader when it comes to technology development or has it been a follower?

India's Government

One of the major considerations to think about in India is how they changed their government as soon as they became an independent nation in 1947. How was their political situation under British rule different than after 1947 when they were under their own rule?
