How has India developed technolicaly in the past half century and how has this technology helped India solve its poverty problem. Has India been a leader when it comes to technology development or has it been a follower?

Much of the national income is harnessed by the government to fight poverty (P.177 Robb, Peter. A HISTORY OF INDIA). They used the income to try to fight poverty but were unsuccessfully due to their nationalist behaviors and tendencies after the British left the rule.
India, although it's getting better, still has major problems with hunger, HIV/AIDS, mass unemployment, and on top of that a severe water crisis. India has 17% of the worlds population but only 4% of the fresh water and this is mostly poluted. It's been stated that the window to fix most of these problems is 5-7 years. After that, they will be to difficult to retain control. India is not without hope however. India is currently pumping money into clean energy sources and is using digital technologies to bring helthcare and education to poor areas. On top of that tehhy are making surgeries available to the poor. It is outsourcing many of its medical procedures to people in america and brittan for a fraction of what they would have to pay in their own country. One other thing that India is doing is making cheap cell phones and new cars that sell for as little as $2000. Indias problems are bad but they aer showing progress with relieving much of the stress. Cargill is an international provider of food, agricultural and risk management products and services utilizing 158,000 employees in 66 countries. The company had a business model advertising "Nature Fresh" for their flour completely untouched by hand. I have brought this into attention because it is a business model that did not work in India. There were no tangible benefits to the community, there was no win-win solution, the cultural aspect seemed more important than the business model. In addition, the company realized that they needed to show the value created to indian customers. They needed to give rural farmers some financial benefits and perhaps an educational opportunity. In their first attempt Cargill did not really succeed. They have a few new strategies they are employing. Political correct approach, joint projects with Indian companies, and a partnership with accredited Universities. Something like the PepsiCo partnership with Punjab Agri. University.
In response to my comment yesterday, Cargill has come up with recommended changes to see if their new plan will have better success. They are looking to reduce trade barriers, foreign exchange restriction, and are striving for economic reform. They are looking to improve communication through transportation, storage, distribution and better agricultural support services. The company has also noted the high fragmented supply chain. On average, India is 20-30% higher than other countries. Cargill is also trying to reduce their gap of organized and unorganized workers through the partnership with educational institutions and continued development for infrastructure. New information may be available on progress with time so we will see how their new plan develops.
